Hugging/kissing/flirting? He is not super great with touch and he already has his heart set on someone, so hugging/kissing will usually be rejected unless it's from someone he knows really well. Even then, he strongly prefers to be the initiator due to all his issues with his body. You can totally flirt with him anyway tho he won't know what to do with this, he's fucked up and unlovable you're not supposed to do that??
Attacking this character? Yeah go for it!! He looks fucked up this is a fair reaction on a first meeting. He might cry tho.
Injuring this character? Ask first, but likely a yes! Hell yeah injuries!!
Torture (physical/mental)? Ask first, but ALSO likely a yes! Hell yeah!!!!!
Offensive subjects? He has a very strong negative reaction to being seen without his cloak. Characters who also have fucked up bodies may have better luck with it, but in general he doesn't like to be touched or to acknowledge any of his mutations. Discussions of stalker behaviour or soul-stealing may also elicit a very nervous reaction and a change in topic, depending on the context.
Death? Ask first! Depends on the death mechanics/reason for it, I prefer not to overuse death but sometimes it's a fun lil treat.
Reading this character's mind/emotions/memories? Let me know in advance so I can put more lil snippets in the narration, but you may! Reading surface thoughts/emotions may give a slightly "off" feeling but otherwise won't seem that weird. Going into his memories, however... considering he was transformed into his current state by what is essentially an eldritch infohazard, this is a Very Bad Idea. Would-be mindreaders will get hit with Danger Vibes before tripping into anything that would fuck them up, please do not Look Outside by proxy he doesn't recommend it.

Unavoidable triggers that are doomed to come up eventually include body horror, arachnaphobia (he is spider shaped), trypophobia (also covered in eyes), stalking/obsessive behaviour, manipulation and (soul)kidnapping. He acts like a very sweet and polite and selfless person but uhhhh... yeah! He's kind of not great, actually! And he also looks pretty horrifying!
If you don't want to interact with Lyle for ANY reason at all, please leave an opt-out comment on this post and let me know which characters/journals to avoid! All comments are screened.
Anything else you should know?
He is always wearing a heavy drape/"cloak" that covers his body, showing only his face, hands, and the tips of his spindly little tripod legs. It's possible for characters to get a small peek of what's underneath while he's doing things with his arms/fighting/not paying attention/trying to take pictures, but as previously mentioned he is vehemently against letting his full body be seen by anyone. Please ask before having your character try to get a better look at him beyond what's written in the narration. That said, click here (HEED THE CONTENT WARNINGS) if you wanna see a fucked up camera spider. Otherwise, this is how he normally presents himself.
His hands are pretty much the only part of his body that can pass as human. The skin of his face (and also the rest of him) is solid black and has a leathery texture, though he keeps it shadowed enough that it could maybe pass as a really horrific full-face burn scar. His legs are made of thin but sturdy metal, tipped with two sharp toes (and exactly one foot with four toes). He has a somewhat awkward, skittery gait.
Due to all the skittery limbs, camera lenses and other mechanical bits inside him, he's constantly making whirring and clicking noises. It gets even worse when he's nervous.
Most of his bodily fluids are various chemicals used for photo development, so he very literally smells like a darkroom. Stinky.
For potential castmates: I am keeping most details of canon events vague! That said, I am assuming all party members have been recruited and most (if not all) sidequests have been completed. This includes Lyle himself, so Sam has kissed him twice. If you're a Sam RPer (hi!!!!!!) and you're not Down For Lyle Shipping that's very cool and fine actually, we can talk about what works best but I'm happy to play out the one-sided pining!
